Project Overview

Cheesegeek came to hedgehog lab to build a companion app to their online cheese subscription service. We designed and built Android and iOS mobile apps complete with e-commerce, cheese puns and a vault to track tasting notes.

Key Features

  • An in-app shop

  • monitor and edit subscription

  • The ‘Cheese Vault’ to track tasting notes and influence CheeseGeek’s proprietary matching technology

The homepage allows users to manage their subscription, track their loyalty points - Cryptocurds (not named by us!), and see the latest offers

The feed is a place where cheese lovers can connect. Users can take part in polls, read from the cheese blog and get updates from Cheesegeek HQ

The shop gives users the ability to browse the entire CheeseGeek inventory. With helpful tasting note tags and indicators to give a quick glance at the profile of the cheese they’re browsing.

The Cheese Vault lets users publicly review their cheese and save cheeses they want to try

Feedback

Jo has done an outstanding job delivering the design work on The CheeseGeek, a visually slick and appealing user experience matched with great functionality.

Ray Clarke - Chief Design Officer

Well done to Jo for finishing up all design work on The Cheese Geek, a great looking app and lots of hard work, endless tweaks and yellow crayons... have gone into this one. Cheers both

Tom Ford - Product Owner

Conclusion

Cheesegeek appeared on season 19 of Dragons’s Den in January 2022 and received Steven Bartlett’s first investment on the show!

It went on to be shortlisted in the App category in Creative Pool’s 2022 awards. The client wanted their new apps to be more than just a shop - they wanted to create a whole experience around cheese with a fresh design.

There’s only so much that can be included on a portfolio site, so I’d be happy to meet up (irl or virtually) and talk more in-depth about this and other projects
